UNISON EMAS re-banding campaign update
20/3/24
Dear UNISON colleague,
Since last updating you in December 2023 UNISON EMAS branch have made significant progress in our re-banding and pay campaign.
The aims of our campaign are simple: –
- The Patient Care Assistants (PCA’s) who work within Patient Transport have seen a significant change in their role over the years. A full evaluation must be undertaken locally to determine pay banding.
- The Ambulance Support Crews (ASC’s) and Emergency Care Assistants (ECA’s) roles cannot be matched to a national JEG profile, a full evaluation must be undertaken locally to determine pay banding.
- Negotiate a claim for back pay.
Since UNISON lodged a re-banding and pay claim with the Trust on behalf of PCA, ASC and ECA members, we have met with the Trust CEO and agreed the next steps. Two separate working groups have been set up to discuss all three points of the UNISON re-banding and pay claim. The working group has already met and agreed terms of reference and began work on a new Job Description.
For clarity: –
- UNISON have lodged a re-banding and back pay claim with the Trust.
- UNISON are negotiating with the Trust for re-banding and back pay on the Working Groups
- UNISON are the only union actively campaigning on behalf of PCA’s, ECA’s and ASC’s for re-banding and back pay.
UNISON have been clear from the campaign launch we want a negotiated settlement, however If we cannot settle our claim with the Trust we will be launching a collective grievance for UNISON members. Keep up to date with the campaign by visiting this web page regularly.
UNISON campaign on workplace issues that matter to you. If you have any suggestions on other similar campaigns UNISON should focus on, please let me know.
