UNISON EMAS Put Our Banding Right Campaign Update
Dear UNISON colleague,
Since last updating you in March 2024 UNISON EMAS branch have made further progress in our Put Our Banding Right campaign. The aims of our campaign are simple: –
· The Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) who work within Patient Transport have seen a significant change in their role over the years. A full evaluation must be undertaken locally to determine pay banding.
· The Ambulance Support Crews (ASCs) and Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) roles cannot be matched to a national JEG profile, a full evaluation must be undertaken locally to determine pay banding.
· Negotiate a claim for back-pay
After submitting the re-banding and back pay claim the Trust agreed to set up two separate working groups to address the pay and re-banding claim. The first working group has already met on three occasions to review UNISON evidence and agreed new Job Descriptions (JD’s) for Patient Transport PCA’s. These JD’s have now been agreed by UNISON at the Oversight Working Group and will now go to the evaluation panel in early June.
If the Evaluation Panel agree the JD’s those affected will be hundreds of £££ better off a year. No member can be put in financial deficit due to a re-banding process (Agenda for Change). Even if there is a change in unsocial hours payment you will see the benefit of this campaign.
UNISON will now be addressing the back pay part of the pay claim through discussions on the Oversight Working Group. We have been clear from the campaign launch we want a negotiated settlement to our claim. However If we cannot settle our claim with the Trust, we will be launching a collective grievance for UNISON members.
· Join UNISON the only union actively campaigning on behalf of PCAs, ECAs and ASCs for re-banding and back-pay. · Keep up to date with the campaign updates https://www.unisonemas.org.uk/
