Dear colleague,
Ref. Workplace behavior, culture, and practices in EMAS
Over the past few weeks and months UNISON have received a steady flow of concerns and complaints from members around the counties about management style, culture and practices which is causing our members considerable distress and in some cases sickness.
UNISON have engaging and worked constructively with the Trust to try and resolve issues locally. However, despite this UNISON are continuing to receive disturbing feedback and documented concern. Whilst we have been actively supporting members and raising your concerns with EMAS we believe it has reached a point where UNISON needed to take further action to address these issues and protect members.
UNISON have met with the Trust CEO and Director of HR to formally raise our concerns. We have agreed an action plan in partnership to deal with the issues identified.
- The Trust CEO will brief the Executive Team in the coming week in respect of discussion with UNISON and the outline the action plan that has been agreed.
- Director leads from each of the 3 divisions where UNISON have identified concerns will work to resolve these matters with their respective team and managers.
- The respective Director leads, the Head of Service and UNISON will meet to set out expectations and discuss how the issues will be actioned and resolved.
These meetings are to take place by early May, with a further meeting with the Trust CEO, Director of HR and UNISON on 21 May 2024 to receive feedback and track progress made to date to resolve these concerns.
Please be assured UNISON take these concerns seriously, we aim to resolve concerns raised which will in turn improve the workplace. I will write with a further update as we make progress in resolving these issues.
Yours sincerely,
Stuart Hallowes
